- It is hard to be on this side of the horizon but beyond it too, in this and transcendent world. Only the best, such as Bruno Mascarelli, are able to pull this feat through. His art is still, just as several decades ago, when he came to Rovinj during the fifties, full of life – vital and young. One must ask the question how the art can be so young and its author an old man. The answer lies in the fact Mascarelli rejuvenates through art and work, and likewise in the fact he has the ability to evoke, said the art historian Igor Zidić at the opening of the exhibition, stressing the oldest Mascarelli’s works already partook of the present.
The exhibition of paintings by Bruno Mascarelli, that will be open to visitors until the end of August, encompasses his earliest works such as the Girl from Kozale from 1948 or the works created a year afterwards, such as the Fields in Kuve, the famous Merry-Go-Round or the Houses in Thorns, spanning the period up to the Bay of Tara (1982), the Blue Heart (1990), and even the most recent works such as the Punta Vasco from 2009.
The painter is claimed by at least three cities (Zagreb, Rovinj and Paris) while he stated of his life destinations to make a circle in his magical triangle. - Zagreb – Rovinj – Paris make up the circle of a triangle the point of which is incessant motion. These cities are my ports that I enter not as a sailor but as a butterfly, with my wings open. I live there, I flutter there, said the great maestro Bruno Mascarelli at the opening of his exhibition.
