Easter table filled with delicious foods

Same as every year the Tourist Board of Rovinj-Rovigno and Eugen Kumičić Vocational School joined efforts to set a rich Easter table with delicious breakfast favourites for numerous domestic and foreign visitors.

Guests were served a variety of savoury traditional desserts like grandma used to make, such as sweet bread, bread dolls, walnut rolls, fritters, angel wings, Pan di Spagna and chocolate eggs and bunnies. A group of ten students led by baking and pastry arts teachers Silvia Cah and Sandra Živolić worked for three whole days to surprise guests with an exciting display of colours, flavours and decorations.

To make the delicious foods they spent over a hundred eggs, twenty kilograms of flour, fifteen kilograms of sugar, ten kilograms of apples and five kilograms of walnuts.

In addition, since good food calls for good ambiance, popular Rovinj songwriter Davor Terzić and his son Gracian stepped in and entertained everyone with lovely performances of popular evergreens.

The event attracted a large turnout despite the cold weather and rain, so all the items on the rich Easter table vanished quickly.

The Easter Concert – the Antonio Gandusio Choir and Guests

On Easter Monday, the last day of the holiday, local and out-of-town music lovers had the opportunity to attend the concert of the Antonio Gandusio Choir, the youngest Choir in Rovinj, and its guests from Bale – the female A Cappella Group Castrum Vallis.

The scene was decorated with Easter eggs by the youngest residents of Rovinj from the Neven and Naridola nursery schools. The Choir and the A Cappella singers alternated on the stage. Castrum Vallis chose for the first song of their second performance in Rovinj, under the direction of Irena Turković, the cover of the folk song from Sustjepan near Dubrovnik – “Mare moja, moj uzorje”. They performed six popular, folk and Dalmatian songs.

The Mixed Choir Antonio Gandusio, the youngest Choir in Rovinj, started its performance with an appropriate Easter song and one of most popular Church songs – “Queen of Heaven, rejoice“, and ended it with the song “Iže heruvimi“. The public had the occasion to hear “Riu Riu Chiu“, the song with which the Choir had auditioned for the television singing competition “To the last Choir“ and won a place on the show with a beautiful and forceful performance, in spite of tough competition. The Antonio Gandusio Choir was voted one of the best fifteen choirs in the country.
