On Saturday and Sunday, June 10th and 11th, everything reflected the small Rovinj traditional wooden boat batana. The ceremony of awarding the UNESCO Charter on the inclusion of the batana boat in the UNESCO Register of Best ICH Safeguarding Practices was held in front of the Batana Ecomuseum. On Sunday, the 12th Rovinj Regatta of Lugsail and Latern Sailing Boats, traditionally organized by the Ecomuseum in cooperation with the Maestral Sailing Club and the Vela al Terzo Association from Venice, took place. About thirty crews from Istria, Kvarner, Slovenia and Italy participated.

The ceremony in front of the Ecomusuem was opened by Butemola, the choir of the youngest singers from the Marco Garbin Culture and Art Society of the Pino Budicin Italian Community, which sang the unofficial Rovinj anthem - “La Viecia Batana”.

Before the UNESCO's Charter was handed to those gathered in front of the Ecomuseum, Nina Obuljen Korižnek, the Minister of Culture, gave a speech, congratulating the members of the Ecomuseum and all the Rovinj citizens on safeguarding cultural heritage. She also pointed out that Croatia is rich in valuable cultural monuments, as confirmed by the fact that the UNESCO Register already has 13 valuable examples of intangible Croatian cultural heritage listed, and the Batana Ecomuseum is at the moment the only one on the Register of Best ICH Safeguarding Practices!

Nina Obuljen Korižnek, the Minister of Culturem delivered the UNESCO Charter to Valerio Drandić, the president of Batana, Marin Budicin, the president of the Pino Budicin Italian Community and the initiator of the idea to open the Ecomuseum, and Marko Paliaga, the newly elected Rovinj mayor.
