This year, the Days with the Italian film are presenting the Italian cinematography of the first half of 20th century. After extremely positive reactions that Rovinj showed in organization last year, the Italian Association of Cinema Guild have decided to hold the first real festival, strictly artistic, right in this town. Tourist Association played a key-role in bringing this valuable cultural manifestation to Rovinj. To be precise, this manifestation is a result of joint effort from Rovinian cultural policy, film associations of Veneta region, Emilia Romagna and Adria, in fact it is a sort of homage to all the authors from these regions whose works have an important place in all of Italian cinematography.

Conception of festival is based on four grounds. The first has historical-educational character in a form of reminder on the work of renowned Italian director Valerio Zurlini, enriched with two masterworks from the history of Italian cinematography ”Arms above the city” and “Hands in the pockets”. The second one is called “Panorama”, and the name itself tells us this is a review of most important achievements in cinematography in the last two years. Let us mention, the exceptional work of art by Carlo Mazzacurati “Language of a saint” that opened the festival. The third is conceived as a frame, which concentrates our attention on exceptional consistence of the author Paolo Benvenuti. He is presented through four of his films, including his last achievement “Constanza da Libbiano”, awarded on the last year’s festival in Locarno. The last part of this manifestation is dedicated to two works of Franco Giraldi in a form of a cycle “Sites from the border”. His stories are often situated in the border space between Italy and Croatia.

“The second Days with the Italian film in Rovinj, is not only a valuable act of promoting Italian cinematography in Istria and Croatia, but also an important part of Rovinian Summer cultural offer, that will, with no doubt, satisfy our citizens, as well as visitors and tourists that will spend some time through the season in our beautiful town.” Gianni Sponza, the mayor of Rovinj
